The Rhythm Studio | About Our School

The Rhythm Studio strives to be the leading school of contemporary music for children and adults in London.  These goals of excellence are coupled with our determination to provide the widest possible access to our courses, in order that all young people will have the opportunity to develop their talent at The Rhythm Studio.  We currently offer after school and weekend music activities for children aged 5-18 years, and adults evening classes, all of which take at our music tuition studios in West London. Around 150 pupils visit the studio each week, and we have a team of twelve professional musicians teaching guitar, drums, singing, piano, bass, percussion, band sessions and composition classes.

Studying At The Rhythm Studio

We believe in one-to-one tuition as the ideal way to develop ability on an instrument and we keep this model central to our school's teaching philosophy. Individual lessons are accompanied by group workshops that complement each pupil's chosen musical path, from band sessions, to composition classes.  All our pupils are encouraged to perform at our regular concerts and special events throughout the year.  These performance opportunities boost motivation and confidence, while allowing our pupils to experience the excitements and pressures associated with playing live as early as possible in their music career.

Our Teachers

The Rhythm Studio's teaching staff is made up of professional musicians who have played with an amazing collection of artists in the widest spectrum of musical situations.  Our teachers all continue to perform on a regular basis and the fact that all our teachers are gigging musicians is one of the cornerstones of our teaching philosophy.  As a result, all of our tutors have the necessary experience to prepare our pupils for the many performance opportunities that arise throughout The Rhythm Studio's calendar, and for a future in the music industry should music become their chosen career path.

The Rhythm Foundation

The Rhythm Studio aims to offer the opportunity of tuition at The Rhythm Studio to all young people, regardless of their financial capabilities.  The Rhythm Foundation was founded in 2011 to help achieve these aims by offering financial support for music projects based in and out of schools, providing young people with musical opportunities that would not otherwise be possible.

Progress

The Rhythm Studio is always looking for ways in which we can improve the quality of tuition that we offer. We are proud of our 100% pass rate for pupils taking instrumental grade examinations, and work hard to maintain these high standards amongst our pupils.  In order to achieve this, our teachers and director of music work closely together to oversee each pupil's progress and regular communication between teachers and parents ensure that each pupil's musical development is safeguarded and nurtured. Practice instructions and progress records are carefully documented and pupils receive an individual teaching report at the end of each term to help ensure that every student gets the most out of their lessons at The Rhythm Studio.
