RSF Scholarship Profiles - Pearce

The Rhythm Studio Foundation Scholarship is an annual award aimed at talented and passionate 11 to 18 year-old musicians in need of financial support to help reach their full potential. The scheme is now in its 8th year and in total we have made over 50 awards of between 50% -100% of music tuition fees. Many of our Alumni have gained places at leading music colleges and universities to continue their musical journey.

Pearce

I’ve been at the Rhythm Studio now since 2019, so this is my second year. I started here doing the Level 2 Music Production & Business Course and I’ve been learning the piano with Ida for 5 months now.

In terms of music I have my own Radio Show as well as  producing  for artists which the piano lessons help. I also help out with the sound and music at my church service every Sunday. As a DJ, I love to get my ears satisfied with all types of styles of genres which I try my best to incorporate with producing and Mixing on my show. However, if I was to be specific I would say Urban (Drill, Rap, Hip-hop. Afrobeats etc..) as well as some EDM (House and its sub-genres, Garage).

Almost everyday, I make or work on beats in a DAW system. However, before anything I always try to make chords on my practice keyboard which I write down chords then work on them more in logic as in see if I can change the sound, add any weird chords etc. I also produce my own radio shows as well as that I’m the A&R/Playlist Manager for OneDanceRadio.

There’s many artist and people in the game that inspire me a lot, such as producer Kayne West, Pharrell Williams, Dr Dre, Bkay Produce, M1ontheBeat and many more. In terms of artists I have a lot of UK inspired people that i'll love to work with one day such as Headie One, Central Cee and much more. Every week my musical journey may change depending on what I may play for my show that week. However, right now I’ve been listening to a lot of Neo-Soul but that will probably change next week to UK underground or drill or bashment or maybe even afrobeats. Who knows?

The RSF Scholarship has helped my production skills massively. I use a Midi Keyboard where you need to have knowledge of piano to make you work faster and efficiently so therefore it has helped me massively in this stage of my musical career. It has also benefited my music performance lessons as I’m not in the worries sides of learning - if I find it difficult, I may ask Ida in our lessons to guide me on this. Lastly, it’s also made me a confident person as a musician and also a person and student.

My aim really is to change and have a massive effect in the music industry whether it be from a DJ/Presenter, A&R and Manager or as a Music Producer! I just want to do the things I love and become the best I can as possible so that people can be inspired my journey. As well as that I want to make the people around me, you guys, see how well I’ve grown as a musician from the help of everyone. My steps for this year are just to network and put out as much content as possible! After leaving the RS I plan either to go into University to do Sound engineering or either get a full-time job to fulfil my full-time music career.

I just want to thank you guys for giving me this opportunity …...from myself and my family we appreciate it a lot. So a big thank you!!
