FAQ - Rock & Roll Boot Camp

How old do I need to come to Rock & Roll Boot Camp? Boot Camp sessions are for 8- 16 year-olds.

Do I need to play an instrument? Yes, unless you are a singer!

How much experience do I need? Boot campers need at least 1 year of tuition on their instrument before the course to ensure that they are ready to play in a band.

Who will I be in a band with? We put bands together according to age, experience and interests. If you want to be in a band with a friend, make sure you let us know when you sign up.

How many members and what instruments will be in my band? A typical boot camp band has 3-5 members, with drums, guitar, keys, bass and vocals. As every week is a unique combination of young musicians, we encourage boot campers to be flexible and be willing to try out a second instrument if necessary.

What songs will we play? Bands choose whether to learn classic covers or write original songs. If you choose to do covers, you will be able to suggest songs that you would like to learn.

What happens during the band sessions? Each band has their own mentor who works with them all week. On the first day you meet your bandmates and decide on your first song. There is a 2.5 hour rehearsal each day and on Friday they play two songs at the gig in front of family and friends.

What happens during the production sessions? Producers compose music using Logic Pro X or Garageband, mastermind band photoshoots, interviews and logos, and edit videos about each band.
