““Co-composing and recording ‘Pick Up A Book’ was such a fun experience! I tried to envision the children singing it whilst I made it, and it was so fun to watch the kids rap, and sing and shout about reading books. Reading is essential to learning about the world, and as a young child, living vicariously through fictional characters taught me a lot about empathy and how to understand people around me better.””
We were so happy to be involved with the creation of ‘Pick Up A Book’ a song written by the fantastic author Laura Henry-Allain to celebrate the National Year of Reading.
‘Pick Up A Book’ celebrates the importance of reading with the message that every child should pick up a book! Laura is keen to help children develop a love of books and a lifelong appreciation of reading for pleasure.
Our Sixth Form student Ruth composed the music and we invited a choir from Wendell Park Primary MC Grammar and DJ AG join us at the studio for the recording day!
