Last Friday, Rhythm Studio tutors Ollie and Ida spent a busy afternoon visiting the Neptune and Jupiter paediatric wards at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. Working with patients ranging in age from six months to the mid-teens, they drew on a typically varied repertoire, from “The Wheels on the Bus” and Aqua’s “Barbie Girl” to Zara Larsson’s “Lush Life” and Amy Winehouse’s “Valerie”. Sessions took place both at patients’ bedsides and in the playroom, creating moments of joy, comfort, and connection throughout the afternoon.
We would like to acknowledge The Margaret Killbery Foundation for its continued support as well as the 2026 Big Give Arts for Impact donation.
“Singing at the hospital is truly the highlight of my week. The Rhythm Studio Foundation has created such a meaningful and special connection with both the staff and the patients, and it is an honour to be part of it. Music has a unique way of bringing joy, and hope, even during the most difficult times. Knowing that, even for a short moment, we can bring happiness, connection, and positivity into their day is deeply fulfilling and rewarding.” - Ida, RSF Music Tutor
“Aaliyah’s been here for three days and it’s mainly been one treatment after another. Every time someone comes into the room she jumps into my arms. It was such a lovely surprise to have the musicians with us — definitely something therapeutic to take Aaliyah’s mind off things.” - Lubna, Aaliyah’s Mum
