Ed Sheeran surprises students at The Rhythm Studio!
On Wednesday, we were treated to a surprise visit by legendary singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran. Ed spent the morning at the Royal Albert Hall meeting SEND pupils at the Tri-Borough Music Hub’s West London Inclusive Arts Festival. He then popped over to The Rhythm Studio to spend the afternoon meeting students and staff and learn about the work we do to create opportunities in music for young people.
During the visit, Ed discovered the work of The Rhythm Studio Foundation, joining a class with our Year 5 pupils from Addison Primary, who spend Wednesday afternoons producing tracks and forming bands at the studio. Ed then took the time to chat with older students from the Foundation’s scholarship programme and The Rhythm Studio’s sixth form, discovering their experiences, listening to their music and advising them on songwriting skills and future ambitions. The visit came to an incredible finale with Ed taking to the stage to perform two of his biggest hits, Castle On A Hill and Perfect.

Rock & Roll Bootcamp: February 2024
Last week we held one of our holiday Rock & Roll Bootcamps. Following our usual structure of running four days of tutored sessions where the students form bands together and learn to play a couple of different songs to perform at the end of the week with our friends at Pizza Express in Holborn.
Last week saw the return of our legendary Rock & Roll Boot Camp course during February half term. Boot campers aged 8-16 took part in four days of rehearsals, songwriting and production classes at our studios in West London, followed by a performance with with our friends at Pizza Express Live Holborn in London’s West End. It was a memorable and busy week, with young musicians from all over London working hard to prepare their setlist for the gig at the end of the week.

On Tuesday we were invited down to Lyric Square to put together a small, acoustic lunchtime concert for Hammersmith BID, an organisation that aims to improve Hammersmith town centre as a place to work, live and visit. We set up right in the middle of Lyric Square to showcase some of our Sixth Form students and raise awareness for the BID.
‘Single Workers’ performing in Lyric Square
With a crowd building in Lyric Square we kicked things off with Future Sounds Finalists, ‘Single Workers’ performing acoustic renditions of their original tunes. Next up was ‘Neo Gold’, who performed a mixture of covers and original songs, with all four members singing on their tracks.

Following the bands, we enjoyed a selection of solos and duets from Year 1 and Year 2 sixth formers, and to close things out a member of the audience volunteered to play a rendition of 'Perfect’ by Ed Sheeran, with all our students forming a small choir and percussion backing band.
