HANNAH JANE LEWIS

VOCALS

If you’re looking for a story about how a burgeoning artist barged her way to the top of the pop pile through sheer force of spirit, you’ll be pleased to meet singer, songwriter and chancer extraor-dinaire Hannah Jane Lewis. “A few years back I had no idea how anything worked,” she laughs today. “I was writing the songs myself, I sorted my own photo shoots, I didn’t even have a manager when I contacted labels. I’d just email them pretending I knew what I was talking about — they’d be like, ‘great, we can't wait to see you and your manager’ - then I’d turn up by myself and try to bluff my way through.”

She did a pretty good job. Since her first independently released EP in 2016, Hannah has attracted plaudits from the likes of Pop Justice, MTV, Line of Best Fit, Clash and BBC Radio 1. Over the last few years, Hannah has released a slew of catchy tracks which have been streamed over 27 million times including her tastemaker-approved debut Raincheck which was Radio One’s Introducing Track of the Week, and recent fan favourite ‘Lemonade’ which she performed live on the BBC’s ‘Saturday Morning Mash Up’. The singer-songwriter has previously supported the likes of Rita Ora, Jess Glynne and Shawn Mendes to name a few.

The Surrey-born artist doesn’t remember a time where she didn’t want to be a singer. At 14, she moved to Florida with her family where she resided for 4 years before moving to New York City. After studying at the prestigious NYU Tisch School Of The Arts (alumni include Lady Gaga, Timothée Chalamet, Anne Hathaway, Kristen Bell), Hannah returned to the UK to work on her own music.
