Jaleesa moved from Amsterdam to London in 2012 to study music and dived head-first into the city’s music scene. Within the first eighteen months, she had joined a drumline and performed as part of the opening ceremony of UEFA championship’s final, collaborated on and recorded a couple of live videos with Youtube artist Josie Charlwood and played drums for the opening act for Josh Kumra at The Jazz Café.

Since then she has completed Masters at the University of West London and her Bachelor of Music (Hons) with the London Centre of Contemporary Music. Jaleesa has grown into a sought after musician. She has played drums on Brooke Waggoner’s album, Jack White’s former pianist, and played alongside funk legends such as Fred Wesley and Pee Wee Ellis for a George Clinton remix. She is currently the drummer for Count Counsellor and does sessions regularly.

Her style of playing has earned her the nickname Lady Groove. While she considers herself to be a hip-hop drummer, she is skilled in playing many different styles including pop, soul, funk and rock. As a teacher she strives to deliver lessons that are tailored to the student’s own learning aims.
